A Homecoming Journey

Growing up and living in the heart of Jakarta, we are constantly inspired by people who spend their lives in completely different environments. We’re not gonna lie, it’s always a love and hate relationship with Jakarta. There is so much to do, yet so little time. In between, a serious itch to hit the open road and to cross seas always calls.

Whether it’s a homecoming journey, a halfway meeting point with your long-distance lover, or a 2-hour drive out of the city, the definition of traveling is no longer a luxury, but a necessity. This time, on an editorial shoot with Planet Surf, the legendary clothing line that influenced most of our youth, we took a moment to wander in time and place. As mundane traveling places rebound and reintroduce themselves as somehow rather poetic: airport terminals, harbours, motels, and train stations. Undeniably, those places have become sanctuaries for those who have failed to find home in the ordinary world.

After we come home from a long trip, the city remains the same, but something in ourselves do change. Home is awesome, just make sure you leave once a year to recognise it. Bon voyage.
